The 1790 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1790 Spartanburg, South Carolina; and one slave. Box 7, Packet 15: Will of David Cooper dated 17 Mar 1792, copied from Box 7, package 15 Spartanburg, South Carolina: IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I David Cooper of the state of South Carolina and County of Spartanburgh being old and well stricken in years and weak and sickly in person yet perfect and sound in mind and memory thanks be to God for His mercies. Yes, Marcum purchased his first tract of land 22 October 1764, therefore he was born before the commonly accepted year of 1750. The deed is recorded in Edgecombe Deed Book C, page 305 with his named as Marcom Cooper. Tim Rackley. He married Sarah Juliette "Sally" Randolph circa 1767 at Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Marcum Cooper served during Revolutionary War served as a Grand Juror and a Petit Juror for Nash County, North Carolina, between April 1778 and October 1784 (Nash County, North Carolina, Court Minutes, Volume I, 1778-1785, Dr. Stephen E. Bradley, pp 7, 14, 19, 20, 90)
DAR Ancestor # A201580. Early Tax List 1782 Nash County, North Carolina. The 1790 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1790 Nash County, North Carolina; is listed as head of household of 3 males over 16 (including hoh), 3 males under 16, 4 females, 0 other free persons, 4 slaves, total 14. He died in 1811 at Nash County, North Carolina.
