Joel Blackwell was buried at State Line Baptist Church Cemetery (formerly Blackwell's Church), Rutherford County, North Carolina. He died in 1821 at Rutherford, North Carolina.
     Joel Blackwell left a will on 26-Jul-1817 at Rutherford County, North Carolina; "I, Joel Blackwell, being sound in mind and memory, I give unto my wife, Sarah, all the property received by her on our marriage, that is my river plantation, and my negro woman named Win and all her increase, except Win's daughter, Ester, which I have given to Bushrod Doggett which he is to have no further demands on my wife's estate. Win's son, Dick, I have given at the death of my wife unto Ann suttle, widow, for her part of my wife's estate. I also give unto my wife two mares, three cows and calves, one feather bed and furniture (names), 12 months provision to her and to her heirs by William Byers. I have given some of my children as follows, sons James, Charles and Peter, daughters Sally and Rebecca Martin $200 in property. It is also my will that my other children have $200 in property extra allowed them in the division of my estate. I give unto my son Daniel, 250 acres whereon I now live as his $200 extra. I give unto my granddaughter Harriet Blackwell a young mare names Pall. The balance of my estate to be equally divided among all my children. The children of my son Joel shall have $100 extra of the estate when they come of age. I appoint my sons Daniel and George Byars my executors. Wit: George Camp, David Pope."

     Elizabeth Blair was born circa 1770 at Mississippi. She married Stripling Byars, son of Wiliam Byars and Sarah Ann Doggett, circa 1794 at Jefferson County, Alabama; [place in error??? should be Rutherford County, North Carolina???]. Elizabeth Blair died circa 1842 at Chickasaw County, Mississippi.
     The 1800 Federal Census enumerated her as a member of Stripling Byars's household; Stripling Byas, males: 10010; females: 301001. The 1810 Federal Census enumerated her as a member of Stripling Byars's household; Shipling Byars, head, males: 21010; females: 32101; slave: 1; homespun looms: 1; annual yards of homespun: 200; value: $100. Elizabeth Blair and Stripling Byars left North Carolina around 1812 and moved to Christian County, Kentucky. In 1817, he moved to Jefferson County, Alabama. He received public land in Jefferson County in 1825 between 1812 and 1817.

     Susan Ann Blair married Beriah (Berry) Doolittle, son of Luther Doolittle and Mary E. Hazelton.
