Withforth that we the undersigned Heirs of the Estate of the Said Elizabeth Rice do by these presents do bind ourselves and agree that the settlement that we have this day made in the Estate of the said Elizabeth Rice Shall be binding to each and all of us the Heirs of the said Elizabeth Rice and that we have this day made a fair and equal division of all the cattle of the said Estate and the Joseph Newman has in and for his son Leander Newman one of the Heirs of said Estate given unto Asa Asa Rice one of equal kin with Leander Rice all and every part and parcel of the said Leander Newman share in the said Estate forever-- Withforth that we the undersigned Heirs of the said Estate do hereby acknowledge by these presents the receipt of all or part and portion of all the property of the said Estate of Elizabeth Rice owned and we do by these presents receive it as a full and final settlement forever -- Whereunto we sit our hand this date above mentioned. Nancy Ann Rice died on 9-Dec-1875 at age 34. Truman Rice told this story: Two men were on the old William Wilson Rice ranch. They had a metal detector and was walking around with it on the ground. The metal detector sounded. they dug down into the ground and found a large old oak log that had been hollowed out. Inside the log was the skeletion of a woman. She had a gold locket around her neck. This was believed the burial ground of William Wilson Rice's first wife, Nancy Ann Baker. The men left everything alone and reburied the remains.
