Mary Clockey was born in 1802 at Ireland; per marriage at 16, she was born in 1802; per 1820 census, she was born in 1804; per 1850 census, she was born 1802. She married Hugh Wilson Jr., son of Hugh Wilson and Mary Chambers, in 1818; came to America on their honeymoon; marriage was witnessed by Andrew Garrett (her aunt's husband) and Andrew Wilson, the eldest of sons. They witnessed the marriage of Mary C. because she was only 16 years old. Mary Clockey died on 24-Sep-1870 at Warner, Washington County, Ohio, per newspaper on microfilm at Washington County Public Library, Ohio.
Mary Clockey "was an orphan and reared by her aunt (mother's sister). I think the Andrew Garrett was her aunt's husband and Andrew Wilson the eldest of sons. They witnessed the marriage of Mary C. because she was only 16 years old. They came to America on their honeymoon. Grandmother told wild tales about the difficult crossing - drifting in the Belt of the Calms, etc. These stories from my half brothers - She died years before I was born." The 1850 Federal Census enumerated her as a member of Hugh Wilson Jr.'s household; age 52, Mary 48, Hugh 17, John 15, Betsy 10, Ely 11, Amos 8, Benjamin 6. The 1860 Federal Census enumerated her as a member of Hugh Wilson Jr.'s household; age 62, Mary 58, Benjamin 16, Charles Dutton 2.
