David Cooper was born in 1725. He married Elizabeth Wilder in 1747; [probably is Wilder but no definite proof, per Donald Cooper]. David Cooper died before 1-Apr-1796 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, (DAR application states will proved April, 1796).
David Cooper was an ancestor of a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Mary Frances Fewel Thompson, DAR # 372469. The 1790 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1790 Spartanburg, South Carolina; and one slave. Box 7, Packet 15: Will of David Cooper dated 17 Mar 1792, copied from Box 7, package 15 Spartanburg, South Carolina: IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I David Cooper of the state of South Carolina and County of Spartanburgh being old and well stricken in years and weak and sickly in person yet perfect and sound in mind and memory thanks be to God for His mercies. Elizabeth Cooper received 365 acres on Thickety Creek for 10s and "consideration of David Cooper assisting in finding and searching for the best beds of ore on the survey made on Thickety Cr for Daniel Bourdeaux, David Hopkins, John Vanderhorst, and Francis Bremar as by an agreement given David by Francis". On Jan 6, 1800 Elizabeth sold 148 acres for "$125 SC money on the waters of Thickety Cr; part of tract sold by Francis Bremar to Elizabeth Cooper" and in 1805 sold 217 ac on "main" Thickety Cr on 20-May-1797. Calling to mind the mortality of the body and that it is appointed for man once to die and after that to Judgement I do hereby make and ordain this to be my last will and testament and first I yield my soul unto God that gave it me in hopes of a happy reception through the tender mercies of Jesus Christ and my body unto the dust from whence it came to be buried with Decent burial at the discretion of my executors in hopes of a happy resurrection from the dead and all my worldly goods and chattel that the lord has been pleased to bless me with I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Elisabeth Cooper one featherbed and furniture and lend unto her also one negro woman named Pol and one gray mare and colt and two cows and calves and household and kitchen furniture and if there is a right obtained for the land on which I now dwell to me or to my heirs that my wife shall have her dwelling on that all the days of her life and at her death all that remains of the lent property unto my wife shall be equally divided between my son Edward Cooper and my daughter Elizabeth Cooper and also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rehab Fowler one featherbed and furniture and one white horse and two cows and calves and one heffer and one iron pot which I intrusted her with at her marriage and which she hath already in her hands and also I also give and bequeath unto my son Marcome Cooper three head of sheep which he hath already in his hands and also I give and bequeath unto my son William Cooper one featherbed and furniture, one gray mare and two cows and two cows and calves which he hath already in his hands and I also give and bequeath unto my son John Cooper one featherbed and furniture two cows and calves and a heffer and one bay mare which he hath already in his hands and I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Charity Wilmuth one featherbed and furniture and one cow which she hath already in her hands and I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Orpah Amos one featherbed and furniture and two cows and one calf which she hath already in her hands and I also give and bequeath unto my son Sion Cooper one bay horse bridle and saddle which he hath already in his hands and two cows and calves which he hath lately received an two heffers which he is to receive and also I give and bequeath unto my son Malleki one bay horse bridle and saddle and a rifel gun which he hath already in his hands and I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Cooper ane black mare and one featherbed and fruniture and two cows and calves and one flax wheel which is her present portion and I also give and bequeath unto my son Edward Cooper one featherbed and furniture and three young horses, two sorrels and one black and two cows and calves and 16-19 Virgene money which is in the hands of my son John Cooper and one rifle gun and I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Malleki Cooper as my executor of this my last will and testement I do also disavol and make void all other former wills and so I bequeaths by me whatsoever acknowledging this to be my last will and testament. He land grant issued to David Cooper, 249, Volume 69, Class 02, LG1795 in 1795 at Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Elizabeth Cooper received 365 acres on Thickety Creek for 10s and "consideration of David Cooper assisting in finding and searching for the best beds of ore on the survey made on Thickety Cr for Daniel Bourdeaux, David Hopkins, John Vanderhorst, and Francis Bremar as by an agreement given David by Francis". On Jan 6, 1800 Elizabeth sold 148 acres for "$125 SC money on the waters of Thickety Cr; part of tract sold by Francis Bremar to Elizabeth Cooper" and in 1805 sold 217 ac on "main" Thickety Cr on 20-May-1797.
