     Stripling Byars was born circa 1768 at Rutherford County, North Carolina. He married Elizabeth Blair circa 1794 at Jefferson County, Alabama. The 1800 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1800 Rutherford County, North Carolina; Stripling Byas, males: 10010; females: 301001. The 1810 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household on 1-Aug-1810 Rutherford County, North Carolina; Shipling Byars, head, males: 21010; females: 32101; slave: 1; homespun looms: 1; annual yards of homespun: 200; value: $100. Stripling Byars and Elizabeth Blair left North Carolina around 1812 and moved to Christian County, Kentucky. In 1817, he moved to Jefferson County, Alabama. He received public land in Jefferson County in 1825 between 1812 and 1817. Stripling Byars land survey shows Stripling with 100 acres of land on Muddy Creek watercourse below Green River in Christian County, Kentucky. He sold this land on October 25, 1817. Stripling and James Byars were purchasers at an estate sale in Christian County, Kentucky on Nov 29, 1815 on 29-Mar-1812. He was bought 79.8 acres of public land on 15-May-1826 at Jefferson County, Alabama. The 1830 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1830 Jefferson County, Alabama; males: 1(5-10) 2 (10-15) 1 (60-70); females: 1 (5-10) 2 (10-15) 1 (15-20) 1 (30-40) 1 (40-50);slaves: male 1 (under 10) 1 (10-25) 1 (36-55) female 1 (36-55); total 14. He left a will on 17-Feb-1836 at Jefferson County, Alabama; wife Elizabeth, dauther Martha, Thomas Goode, husband of daughter Mary, witnessed by Wm F. McDuff, John Byars, H. W. Goyne. He died after 17-Feb-1836 at Elyton, Jefferson County, Alabama, will probated April 16, 1836. He was buried Union Hill Cemetery located on the north side of Hollywood Blvd. on the west side of Hwy 280. Canterbury Methodist Church was formerly located on the right side of the cemetery. Census taken May 1, 1974 (no Byars or Coopers); per "Cemeteries of Jefferson County, Alabama, Hahn, Vol 1, 1982 at Union Hill Cemetery, Jefferson County, Alabama. He left a will on 26-Sep-1840 at Jefferson County, Alabama; estate distributed as follows: To Elizabeth Byars, the widow, $964.32 3/4 and $321.45 to each of the following: Thomas Goode in right of wife Mary; William Cannon in right of wife Nancy; Cader Cooper in right of wife Sarah; Joseph Byars representatives, William Byars, Abram Byars, William J. Gee in right of wife Agnes Jane Gee, Isham Autrey in right of wife Aliena, Martha Byars, John Byars, John R. Goyne in right of wife Elizabeth.

He married Sally Carney (Karne), daughter of William Carney and Prudence Comstock, on 21-Jul-1814 at Braintrim Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; or Wyoming County. Seymour Garey married Anna Kingsbury, daughter of Samuel Kingsbury, circa 1827 at Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The 1830 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1830 Windham Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; Garey, Seymour, head, males: 2 under 5 (?), 1 5-10 (William, Elijah ?), 1 30-40 (Seymour). Seymour Garey purchased first home on the Brazos river. on 19-Sep-1839 at San Felipe de Austin, Texas. He was entitled to 640 acres as a conditional headright as a man of Family - claiming under a Late act of Congress --- --- --- donation of land to late emigrants on the 4th day of January 1839. Dated December 28, 1839, Republic of Texas, County of Austin.
The State of Texas, Gonzales County, In consideration of the sum of $150 hereby transfer the within certificate to B. W. Garry this 13th day of April, 1856, signed his mark Seymour Gary. No 128 Seymour Gary Land Certificate 640 acres. File 168 Gonzales on 28-Dec-1839 at Texas. He formed out of Luzerne County in 1842 at Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. He is listed on the 1846 Poll List as Gary, Seamon 1846 DeWitt County, Texas. He served in the The Mexican War between 1846 and 1848 served almost two years. The 1850 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household on 1-Sep-1850 DeWitt County, Texas; Garey, Seymour, head (Gairy) 60/m, farmer, real estate value 700, born Connecticut. He filed petition as heir of son Elijah Garey's estate to collect $80.75 due him. Witnesses aquainted with Elijah Garey were Jacob A. Miller and R. H. Chisholm on 12-Aug-1854 at DeWitt County, Texas. He was sold 134 acres (less 7 acres heretofore sold) to Benjamin W. Garey on 14-Mar-1856 at DeWitt County, Texas. He was transferred 640 acres Unconditional Certificate No 23 to B. W. Garey; signed by Governor F. R. Lubbock on Augusts 6, 1862 on 13-Apr-1856 at DeWitt County, Texas. The 1870 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1870 DeWitt County, Texas; living with Amos Hill, brother-in-law. He died in 1874 at Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, died while visiting relatives. He was buried grave is marked by a rock with S. G. carved on it at Upper Fassett Cemetery, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. He was purchased lots 8 & 9 in tier 2, north of the eastern avenue from A. A. Brooks and wife Clara L. Brooks for $1200 cash on 19-Feb-1883 at Gonzales, Gonzales County, Texas.

Hugh Wilson gave the land that the Good Hope Baptist Church is on in Washington County, Ohio, just outside of Marietta. The interstate is down the slope from the church. Some land and graves might have been taken in construction of the interstate, Hugh Wilson's being one of them.
     Hugh Wilson was born in 1758 at County Down, Ireland. He married Mary Chambers. Hugh Wilson emigrated in 1818 from County Down, Ireland, "of the Township of Salem, Washington County, Ohio, in said county maketh the following declaration in order to become a naturalized citizen of the United States viz, that he was born in County Down in Ireland in the year 1758 that he is seventy three years of age that he sailed from Belfast No. Ireland and landed at Quebec in Canada that he came to Black Rock in New York in the United States in the year 1818 and that he has since thus the jurisdiction of the United States that he has for eleven years past he has resided in the County of Washington and that is is bonafied his intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce all allegiance to any foreign Prince Potentate State or Sovereignty whatever and particularly to William the 4th King of Great Britain and Ireland." The 1820 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1820 Salem, Washington County, Ohio; Wilson, Hugh, head, males 1 10-16 , 1 16-26 , 1 45 up (Hugh Sr); females 1 10-16 (Elizabeth) 1 16-26, 1 45 up (wife? Mary); 3 foreigners not naturalized and 3 persons involved in agriculture. He was received land on 30-Jul-1827 at Washington County, Ohio. He was on the tax rolls between 1828 and 1836 Washington County, Ohio. The 1830 Federal Census enumerated him as head of household in 1830 Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio; Wilson, Hugh, head, one male 70-80; one female 60-70. He was naturalized on 17-May-1831 at Salem, Washington County, Ohio; made his Declaration of Intent. He was sold land to son, John Wilson; witnessed by Enoch Rector and James Bell Jr on 27-Jun-1835. He was and wife Mary (her mark) sold land to John Wilson; witnessed by Enoch Rector and James Bell Jr. on 27-Jul-1835 at Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio. He was & wife, Mary (her mark), sold land to Hugh Wilson Jr. & wife; witnessed by James Bell Jr., and John Wilson on 1-Aug-1835 at Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio. He "situated on the ridge west of Duck creek. Various persons in the community met at the house of Deacon Hugh Wilson organized this church" on 1-Oct-1835 at Good Hope Baptist Church, Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio. He died.
