Amanda Ruston died between 1871 and 1872 1880 census: John Rustin with wife Elizabeth and three children born 1874, 1876 and 1880; 1900 census: John Ruston living with William Rice and family.

     Amanda Garey was born in 1834 at Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Seymour Garey and Anna Kingsbury. Amanda Garey died on 29-Feb-1908 at DeWitt County, Texas.
     The 1850 Federal Census enumerated her as a member of Seymour Garey's household; Garey, Seymour, head (Gairy) 60/m, farmer, real estate value 700, born Connecticut.

     Ambrose Garey was born on 30-May-1768 at Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut. He was the son of Corporal Ebenezer R. Garey and Lucy Collins. Ambrose Garey married Mary Woodruff between 1787 and 1788 at Connecticut. Ambrose Garey died on 25-Mar-1846 at Windham Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, at age 77 is on 1830 census so he died March 25, 1846 per Beverly (email) not 1826 as reported in other sources. He was buried at Upper Fassett Cemetery, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania.
     In 1762 settlers from New England came to the Wyoming Valley, but were driven out by the Indians. It was not until after the Sullivan expedition in 1779 that families were able to establish a permanent settlement in the Tunkannock area.
